In-a-nutshell: Stranded amidst the unforgiving terrain of the desert, two men are on the brink of death when they come upon a woman who's in worse shape than they are. After giving her the last of their water supply, the two friends are at a conflict: One is determined not to leave the woman alone but the other is convinced there's nothing they can do for her - and even if they do take her, she's seconds away from death, anyway. Laberinto Infernal is a powerful interpretation of the difficult question of where to draw the line on human compassion and start thinking of self-survival. Director Sixto Melendez does a brilliant job of condensing such an intense storyline into a seven-minute short that also features noteworthy and cogent acting from all three leads. Even though Infernal is in Spanish, the use of subtitles is virtually unnecessary as Hernan, Rubio and Martinez beautifully translate raw emotions not only in the tone of their voices but also in their actions and facial expressions. Infernal will undoubtedly leave audiences pondering, "What would I do in a situation like that?"
